Updating Saka
Saka updates all its open tabs together and keeps your databases.
Finding an update
Section titled “Finding an update”Saka checks for updates automatically. To check now, choose Help → Check for updates. Update available appears in the header once a version has downloaded.
If a version cannot preserve your databases, Saka does not offer it as an update. Export your databases before changing to that version.
Update all tabs
Section titled “Update all tabs”- Click Update available.
- Copy any query drafts or REPL text you want to keep.
- Click Update all tabs, or Not now to wait.
The update keeps your databases, their names, and each tab’s address. It clears query views and drafts, workspace tabs and splits, REPL history, and undo history.
All Saka tabs and installed app windows in the same browser profile update together. Private windows and other profiles update separately.
While it runs
Section titled “While it runs”Keep Saka open. Tabs stop accepting new work, finish submitted work, and save the databases on your device. If the update is waiting for a tab, open that tab or close it to continue.
Cancel update returns you to the session with your views and drafts. Cancellation is available until “Restarting Saka” appears. Closing the tab that started the update before that point also cancels it.
The end of an update
Section titled “The end of an update”Saka restarts the tabs, restores your databases, and says “Saka was updated. Your databases are ready.”
If you see “Saka update needs attention”, use Retry or download the saved databases as .sakadb files. Saka restores the databases together and does not overwrite later work with saved data.
The temporary files are deleted after success or cancellation. They remain if restarting or restoring fails. They are not backups: browsers can remove stored data under their storage limits. Export databases you want to keep.
Opening Saka
Section titled “Opening Saka”On your first visit, “Opening Saka…” stays until the app has downloaded. If it fails, check your connection and use Retry. Use another browser if Saka reports that yours is unsupported. If a tab reports a different Saka version, reload it before using your databases.
